Mild Month 2013
Mild Month 2013, Bigger Than Ever!
After last year's successful Trail, Derby and Amber Valley CAMRA are once again joining forces this year to help bring a drop of the dark stuff into pubs throughout both areas in May. With over 30 pubs this time, there will be plenty of choice, and organised crawls will take place during May, particularly at the weekends.
Please click here for a downloadable list of the Derby pubs on the Trail
Once again, there will be awards for the best pubs*** and best mild and we'll be relying on customers to help us decide the winners by text vote. Each person who buys a pint or half pint of mild in a pub on the Trail will be invited to text a mark between 1 and 5, the name of the mild they tried and the pub to a specified number. The pubs with the highest average marks will win certificates. There will be posters in all the pubs on the Trail and stickers with details of the voting system attached to the mild pump clips.
As per last year, we are offering incentives for those who visit multiple pubs on the Trail, with a free pint at Derby Beer Festival for anyone who drinks Mild in at least 12 different pubs on the Trail, and three pairs of tickets for the Friday evening session of the Amber Valley Beer Festival for the three who visit the most pubs on the Trail, with a draw taking place in the event of a tie.
So, plenty of reasons to go wild for Mild in May again! We look forward to seeing many of you sinking a pint or three of the dark stuff this May, cheers!
***Where we mention best pubs we are referring to those serving mild in the best condition. Much like the National Beer Scoring Survey (NBSS), your score should reflect the quality of the mild on offer; no other factors should be taken into consideration. The category for best mild is where you get to vote for your favourite mild on the trail.***
As mentioned above there will be two organised crawls during the month starting with the first one on Friday 3rd May where we will visit the Falstaff, Brunswick, Alexandra and Exeter Arms. Meet 7:30pm at the Falstaff, Silverhill Rd, Normanton.
The second crawl on Friday 24th May will start 7:30pm at Mr. Grundy's, Ashbourne Road and then on to the Dolphin, Little Chester Ale House, Coach and Horses, Furnace, Five Lamps and finishing at the Flowerpot 7 milds festival.
